These photos were taken at The Ireon, a World Heritage Site, on Samos Island, Greece 2006. The Sanctuary to Hera was reached by The Sacred Way once lined with thousands of statues. The Temple of Hera, built in the Mycenaean era at her birthplace was four times larger than the Parthenon in Athens and was destroyed by an earthquake. Only one magnificent pillar remains of 160.
